My career as a journeyman pipefitter (10 years on nuclear subs) involved more than just pipes; it was about leading tight-knit teams to solve complex logistical puzzles, like extracting massive components from confined spaces, and fostering collaboration across different crafts to meet evolving submarine maintenance needs. I also found fulfillment in patiently training and guiding new colleagues. Transitioning into indie development and software engineering, and currently a junior in Computer Science at SNHU, I recently put these leadership skills to a new test:
I brought together a fellow SNHU student and a talented composer from Reddit; together, as first-time GDevelop users, we built and submitted a complete game, within the 10 day game building window, placing 42nd out of 84. It was a powerful demonstration of what focused leadership and a dedicated team can achieve.
